APER Forum 2020

On 14 August 2020, Hatta virtually attended the Asia Pacific Energy Regulatory Forum (APER Forum) 2020, hosted by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority. As the chair of the EGC, Hatta talked on “Impact of COVID-19 on Electricity Demand in Japan.”

Tatsuo Hatta is currently a member of the Japan Academy and serves as the Executive Board Chair at the Asian Growth Research Institute (AGI) in Kitakyushu.

Prior to his role at AGI, Hatta held several academic positions, including President of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies and Professor at the University of Tokyo, Osaka University, and Johns Hopkins University. He also served as an Assistant Professor at Ohio State University.

Hatta was the President of the Japanese Economic Association from 2004 to 2005 and has held various positions within the Japanese government, including a member of the National Strategic Special Zone Commission.

He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University in 1973 and his B.A. in Economics from International Christian University in Tokyo in 1965.

Hatta has published academic articles in American Economic Review, Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies, and Quarterly Journal of Economics.
