Participation as a panel member in “The 20th Anniversary Conference of CIDEG” at Tsinghua University in Beijing (November 15, 2025)

On Saturday, November 15, I participated as a panel member in “The 20th Anniversary Conference of CIDEG” organized by the Center for Industrial Development and Environmental Governance (CIDEG) at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

"The 5th Masahiko Aoki Award in Comparative Institutional Economics Award Ceremony" was also held on the same day, and there were parallel forums on various topics on Sunday, November 16.

Tatsuo Hatta is currently a member of the Japan Academy and serves as the Executive Board Chair at the Asian Growth Research Institute (AGI) in Kitakyushu.

Prior to his role at AGI, Hatta held several academic positions, including President of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies and Professor at the University of Tokyo, Osaka University, and Johns Hopkins University. He also served as an Assistant Professor at Ohio State University.

Hatta was the President of the Japanese Economic Association from 2004 to 2005 and has held various positions within the Japanese government, including a member of the National Strategic Special Zone Commission.

He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University in 1973 and his B.A. in Economics from International Christian University in Tokyo in 1965.

Hatta has published academic articles in American Economic Review, Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies, and Quarterly Journal of Economics.
